Brooklyn Children’s Museum Rooftop Pavilion
Brooklyn, NY, USA
2015
The Brooklyn Children’s Museum Rooftop Pavilion is a three-season, open-air canopy atop the existing roof terrace. The 7,300 sq ft clear span creates a column-free space to accommodate multiple functions including gatherings, performances, and casual outdoor dining for an existing café. The simplicity and efficiency of the arched steel structure’s single-radius curves and the use of Ethylene Tetra Fluoro Ethylene (ETFE) cladding allows the canopy to remain slender and light. The canopy is a dynamic, yet simple solution to the client’s need for a covered, multipurpose exterior environment.
