Villa 64 proposes a new courtyard typology that is realized by three towers surrounding and protecting a series of open spaces. It is a nonhierarchical design for three generations of family to share one residence. The villa allows for both seclusion and connectivity since the separated towers meet in a united base that provides a shared common space. The physical structure of Villa 64 is simple and robust, but flexible enough to adapt to the varied climate and shifting landscape of the dessert. The building masses are sited to maximize its solar orientation and shield the northwestern prevailing winds.
